Toothpaste-
Have you considered the ingredients?
We clean our teeth at least twice a day, 365 days x 2 (if not more) = 730 times -that's a lot of Toothpaste.
We want to bring your awareness to the types of ingredients, you might currently be encountering if you’re using a traditional toothpaste.
Ingredients to be aware of:
Triclosan
This has been shown to help prevent gum and tooth health but the benefit comes at a steep price. This chemical has been linked to concerns over antibiotic resistance and endocrine disruption.
Sodium Lauryl Sulphate
This provides the toothpaste with the foaming action, something we associate with cleaning our teeth. The main concern with SLS is the manufacturing process (ethoxylation) results in it being potentially contaminated with 1,4 dioxane, a possible carcinogenic byproduct.
Fluoride
A long debated fact, it is touted by many that fluoride improves tooth health by helping to rebuild tooth enamel, but at a price of immune suppression and it is believed to be neurotoxin, affecting brain development and function.
Artificial colourants
Why is toothpaste coloured? We want white teeth not blue!
A popular colour is FD&C Blue 1 is a synthetic dye produced from petroleum. Petroleum by-products have lots of negative effects, linked to ADHD, cancer and allergies.
